Cross Chat Feature

Here at Arkadia, we’re constantly striving to improve the multiplayer experience for our community in Ark: Survival Evolved. One area we’ve focused on is streamlining communication across our multiple servers. We’re excited to detail a new feature designed to facilitate that: a cross-server communication system we’ve developed for enhanced interaction.

What is the Cross-Server Communication Feature?

This feature connects all in-game chat from across our Arkadia servers into a unified global channel. This means players on different maps and servers can readily communicate with each other, fostering a more connected and vibrant community. Beyond the global channel, the system also supports direct, private messaging between players.

Key Functionality:

  • Unified Global Chat: All Arkadia servers share a single, accessible chat channel. This eliminates the need to switch between servers to communicate with friends or coordinate activities.
  • Private Messaging: Send direct messages to individual players for more private conversations or to coordinate specific tasks.
  • Selective Muting: To maintain a clean and focused chat experience, you can selectively mute individual players. This is particularly useful for managing chat clutter or blocking unwanted messages.

Using the Communication Feature: In-Game Commands

The feature is controlled entirely through in-game commands. Here’s a breakdown of each command:

  • /pm [USERNAME] – Initiates a private chat with the specified player. Replace [USERNAME] with the exact in-game name of the player you wish to contact.
  • /r – Sends a reply to the most recent private message received. This simplifies back-and-forth communication in private chats.
  • /ignore – Displays a numbered list of all currently online players. This list allows you to easily identify players you might want to mute.
  • /ignore #[NUMBER] – Mutes the player corresponding to the specified number in the global chat. For example, /ignore #4 will mute the fourth player listed in the /ignore output.
  • /unignore – Displays a numbered list of all currently muted players. This allows you to easily identify and unmute players.
  • /unignore #[NUMBER] – Unmutes the player corresponding to the specified number. For example, /unignore #4 will unmute the fourth player listed in the /unignore output.

Managing Chat Clutter & Maintaining a Positive Experience

We understand that a busy global chat can sometimes become cluttered. The selective muting feature is designed to address this. We encourage players to use it responsibly to create a more enjoyable chat environment for everyone. Please remember to prioritize respectful communication and avoid harassing or disruptive behavior. Our server rules apply to all chat interactions.

Benefits of Cross-Server Communication

This feature offers several benefits for our Arkadia community:

  • Improved Coordination: Easier to coordinate events, raids, or building projects across multiple servers.
  • Stronger Community Bonds: Connect with players from different servers and expand your network.
  • Increased Trade and Collaboration: Facilitates trading and collaboration between players on different servers.
  • Enhanced Server Interaction: Provides a more cohesive and interconnected Arkadia experience.
